บทคัดย่อ (EN): Rubber-based agroforestry (RBAS) production system has long established its ecological niche in the Southern portion of the country and farmers have gained sustainable livelihood from this production system. However, with its productivity contribution, rubber also found its production niche in other areas of the Philippines. This paper presents the characterization of the RBAS systems and the innovative farmers’ approaches in two climatic types of the Philippines. Farmers primarily practice taungya RBAS until the commencement of tapping. After the canopy closure of rubber, pure plantation of productive rubber trees is the common climax species in this farming system. Among the contributory factors towards the evolution of RBAS systems are the use of tolerant clones, use of sustainable farming practices, ensured marketing scheme, institutional support and derivation of profitable income. The establishment of rubber-based farming systems in Davao del Sur and Laguna provinces is influenced by the existing climate type.
