บทคัดย่อ (EN): The objectives of the study were to study the effect and interaction effect between Insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF1) gene, Insulin like growth factor 2 (IGF2) gene, Melanocortin 4 receptor (MC4R) gene and raising system on growth performance and carcass traits in Thai indigenous chicken, Leung Hang Khao (LK). Genomic DNA from 180 chickens were genotyped. PCR-RFLP technique was used to identify genotype of IGF1 gene and IGF2 gene. PCR-SSCP technique was used to identify genotype of MC4R gene. General linear model was used to estimate the effect of genes and interaction effect between genes and raising system on the traits. ANOVA was used to test a significant difference. IGF1 gene was not suitable to use as gene marker for LK population since allele A is very low frequency (0.04). Therefore, the gene was eliminated from the study. The significant effects of IGF2 and MC4R gene on carcass qualities were detected. While the interaction effect had no significance. The results suggest that IGF2 and MC4R gene have potential to be gene marker to improve the carcass qualities in LK population.
