บทคัดย่อ (EN): Trial study of the effects of Fomesan – Wet and Dry granules on White Root Disease (WRD) on rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg. was evaluated in field plantation at the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria, main station, Iyanomo, Benin City, Nigeria. Four Hevea test clones, two local – NIG 800 and NIG 805 and two exotic – RRIM 707 and GT 1 were used for the study. A total of two hundred and sixteen (216) test rubber trees were evaluated. However, a total of 324 was actually designated and marked out in the field for the experiment, the quantity Fomesan fungicide supplied was inadequate hence the study was restricted to four (4) clones. The wet and dry Fomesan were applied separately on test clones. The wet Fomesan was drenched on the collar and roots of tree while the dry Fomesan was broadcast from the collar to the roots of tree. Both wet and dry Fomesan wee applieds into a sight furrow dug around the tree to expose the tap and lateral roots. Results of the effects of Fomesan showed varying levels of initial WRD incidence and treatment – curative effects of the wet and dry Fomesan. Initial disease assessment of 18 trees designated as ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ test trees for each plot indicated average disease incidence levels in RRIM 707 as 2.07 ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ while curative effects recorded were 47.62 for wet, and 47.33 for dry applications. GT 1 – Initial disease incidence for A and B trees as 1.66 and 1.51 respectively, and curative effect as 62.63 and 62.26 for the wet and dry Fomesan, respectively. In NIG 800 recorded effects were 2.37 and 2.08 for A and B trees respectively while records of curative effect were 59.67 and 56.70 for A and B treated trees. From results obtained the highest cure effect of Fomesan fungicide was recorded in GT 1 (62.63 and 62.26 for wet and dry) and lowest curative effect recorded in RRIM 707 (47.62 and 47.33 for wet and dry treatment).
