บทคัดย่อ (EN): Assessment of molecular phylogenetics using the partial mtDNA D-loop sequences from chickens was employed. A total of 30 chickens representing three breeds, namely hybrid red jungle fowl with the native chicken breed (Kai- Tor, 11 samples), white tail yellow chicken (WTYC, 7 samples) and commercial layer hen (HL, 12 samples) were sequenced for a 648-bp fragment of the gene. Afterwards, all obtained sequences were verified and compared to sequences previously deposited in Gen Bank using BLAST. It was uncovered that they were similar to Gallus gallus with 99-100% identities. The phylogenetic tree was constructed using Neighbor-Joining (NJ) method with 1,000 bootstrap replicates and two species; i.e. G. lafayetii and G. sonneratii served as out groups, suggesting that these lineages were reciprocally monophyletic. Nonetheless, to obtain distinctly data in terms of phylogenetic status of Thai chickens and to be useful for further conservation strategies of chicken breeds, analysis of tree topology based on both mitochondrial and nuclear genes should be initially carried out.
