บทคัดย่อ (EN): This study was aimed to investigate the effects of using herbal plants on Pradu-Hangdum chicken on production efficiency and cost of farmers. Data were collected from 20 farmers raising Pradu-Hangdum chicken at 200 birds/farmer in semi-intensive raising system. Native chicken which were fed commercial feed containing 15% protein together with farm by-products, were divided into 2 groups: with no herbs and with such asKariyat or Creat (Andrographis paniculata Wall. Ex Nees) and Boraphet (Tinospora crispa L.), added to the feed together with bio-compost mixed with water until the 16th week. Results of the study showed that chicken fed with supplemented herbs had less mortality with high statistical significance (p<0.01) (7.39 and 12.86%, respectively). In terms of rearing period, amount of commercial feed consumed and average weight, both groups were not significantly different (p>0.05). When considering the production cost, the group fed with herb supplement had the lowest cost with a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) (64.03 and 76.95 baht/kg, respectively) and farmers who fed their chicken with herbs gained a higher average monthly income than farmers who fed their chicken with commercial feed only, with a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) (2,113.22 and 784.23 baht/month, respectively).
