บทคัดย่อ (EN): Corynespora leaf fall (CLF) on rubber in Vietnam was first detected in 1999. Recently, this disease has been reached an epidemic stage. In 2009, it attacked nearly 2.000 ha rubber in highland and coastal region. Last year, more than 20.000 ha rubber in South East region, highland and coastal area was infected. RRIV 4 is the most susceptible clone for this disease. Almost of rubber clones in Vietnam are infected CLF at mild level except RRIV 2, RRIV 3 and RRIV 4 at severe level. Several seminars and workshops were held to guide the producers how to detect and control the disease. Fungicides (hexaconazole, carbendazim) in combine with farming practices have been successfully applied. The disease severity has reduced and the rubber has been recovered in several areas. However, at present, CLF has been detected in almost rubber planting areas in Vietnam. From the awareness of the importance of CLF, a research project has been set up and carried out with the aim of: Studying the genetic diversity of Corynespora cassiicola isolates using molecular marker techniques i.e. Inter Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) and rDNA ITS sequencing markers; Studying the pathogenicity and cross infection ability of C. cassiicola isolates obtained from different rubber clones and hosts; Early selection of resistant rubber clones to CLF; Looking for valuable fungicides with effective concentration to control CLF. From the result of this study, we have found that there are at least 2 distinct genetic groups of C. cassiicola that infect rubber and other hosts in Vietnam. Four isolates, of which two from rubber, one from papaya and one from white pumpkin were tested for cross infection ability. One isolates from rubber could infect papaya and white pumpkin while another isolate do not have this ability whereas both isolates from papaya and white pumpkin could infect all tested rubber clones. Several fungicides were tested for controlling CLF. Hexaconazole and carbendazim at 0.2-0.3% were shown to be effective to control this disease.
