บทคัดย่อ (EN): The white root disease caused by Rigidoporus microporus (klotzsch) Imazeki is one of the most serious disease in rubber plantations distributed in southeast Asia, Africa and south America. A few studies reported certain rubber clones are more tolerance to the white root rot than others. The aim of our investigation was to evaluate rubber rootstocks for white root disease tolerance. R. microporus was collected from basidiocarp and infected root at rubber plantations in southern Thailand. A total of 56 R. microporus were isolated and 24 isolates were selected and used in pathogenicity studies in a susceptible clone, RRIM 600. The study revealed that all isolates were pathogenic to RRIM600 and the most virulent isolate was RIG56. Subsequently, RIG 56 was characterized by DNA sequence data of nuclear ribosomal Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS). The sequences analysis showed that RIG 56 identical to Rigidoporus microporus strain RL (Accession no. KM246744.1) with 99% similarity. The screening of rubber seedlings tolerant to white root disease in 9 rubber clones (RRIM 623, KRS 36, PB 5/51, BPM 24, PB 235, JVP 80, GT 1, RRIM 600 and RRIT 251) was carried out under the greenhouse conditions. The experiment was arranged as Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 replications, 20 seedlings per replication. Six months after inoculation, the pathogenicity was revealed in the different degree of susceptibility. Seedlings from PB 5/51 were highest tolerance whereas BPM 24 was found to be the most susceptible.
