บทคัดย่อ (EN): Lao Taek is a traditional glutinous rice variety being grown by farmers in the northeast and some parts in the north of Thailand. It becomes popular because of its ability to give high yield, which related to high number of grains per panicle and high number of panicles per hill. It is questionable that Lao Taek might have genetic diversity among different growing areas. Collection of 6 genetic stocks from Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothorn, Sakon Nakorn and Nan were conducted during 2008-2010. These stocks were evaluated for their agronomic characteristics and yield performances in comparison with 3 accessions from the National Rice Germplasm Bank in Ubon Ratchathani Rice Research Center (URRC) in 2012 wet season. The results showed that agronomic characteristics of all 9 stocks and accessions differed in term of plant height, maturity, no. of panicles per hill, leaf blade and leaf sheath color, hull color, brown rice shape, and aroma. However, all 9 samples tended to give high yield, ranging from 500 to 900 kg/rai., while an accession UBN10003 collected from Kammaed village, Gudchoom district, Yasothorn gave the highest yield. These stocks could be utilized as donors in breeding programs for high yielding cultivars. For future plan, more accessions will be collected from other rice growing areas, and yield performance of Lao Taek group in the northeast of Thailand will be studied.
