บทคัดย่อ (EN): The objectives of this research were to study the characteristics and trends of the different occupations after harvesting season of the farmers, their attitudes and incomes and other factors concerning about those occupations. The studied population were 100 households from 4 villages of irrigated area and 100 households from 4 villages of but-of-irrigated area in Khon Kaen province. Data were collected by interview schedule and statistically analysed for percentage and arithmetic means. The results of the study were : After havest, farmers in Khon Kaen area occupied themselves with nmerous activities in order to earn their own living. However, most of them still involve in agricultural, i.e. growing of season crops such as rice, and other agronomic crops. The cultivation of dry season crops has been widely practiced. For those farmers who occupied lands out of irrigation shade, approximately on third of them still cultivating agronomic crops such as cassava, sugarcane and kenaf. These cash crops could provide them with fairly good income. It can be stated that farmers' activities in the village do their own living by (1)agricultural activities (2)migrating to other location for job opportunity and (3)a local job that available once in a while. About 15 of the farmers were normally migrating to other places for job o0pportunity. For those remain in the village could also earn their own living by household industry i.e. handicraft activities spart from a small scale trading business. The average income of each family could earn up to 16,413 baht and 10,146 baht for those living in the irrigated area and out of the irrigated area respectively. However, farmers' incentive still living on agricultural activities provided that the contributing factors were well arranged i.e., to provide good irrigation system, marketing and price for their cash crops. For those household handicraft activities, it seemed that housewives and children involved mostly on this particular activity and they could also earn a fairly goo income.
