บทคัดย่อ (EN): This study was conducted in Thin Keo Village, Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, to investigate three factors: 1) farmers’ knowledge and understanding of the system of rice intensification (SRI), 2) cultivation problems regarding SRI, and 3) farmers’ adoption and satisfaction with the SRI. A questionnaire was used for data collection. It was found that most of the farmers understood the principles of SRI very well. However, they could not perform the correct cultural practices of SRI. Problems arose in two areas, i.e., water control in the paddy field (64.86%) and transplanting the seedlings in an “L” shape (94.74%). Cultivation constraints of SRI found at a medium level were: 1) labor shortages (x=x1.89), 2) disease and insect damage (x=x1.89), 3) water shortages (x=x1.80), 4) flooding in some areas (x=x1.80), and 5) a lack of knowledge of SRI practices (x=x1.71). The overall feedback from farmers indicated that SRI was adopted at a high level (x= 2.92) in this village.
