บทคัดย่อ (EN): The mini-seedling budding for Hevea brasiliensis, budding about 20cm high seedlings at the age of about 2 weeks after seed sowing under uprooted condition and nipping all the stock buds in time and the top buds of budded plants but leaving 1 or 2 leaves of the first flush of leaves when budding succeeds, was developed in Rubber Research Institute, CATAS. This budding technique was recommended to some state farms in 1998 and non-state farms in 2003 to propagate rubber clone planting material, and has since then been improved. Now a package of the budding techniques has been developed to ensure easy operation and high budding success. These budded plants weighing 1~3 kg/plant can be transplanted when they are raised in nursery for 6~8 months and have 2 whorls of leaves and a stem of 0.4~0.6cm in diameter. The plants grafted with mini-seedling budding have been tapped in commercial rubber plantation. The results showed that the mini-seedling budding had the advantages similar to the current young buddings, such as low cost, easiness to transport, handle and transplant, high field establishment rate, uniform growth, short immature period, high tappable rate and normal yield as compared with bare root budded stumps or polybag buddings. And the advantages of the mini-seedling budding include increased number of buddings per unit nursery area, short nursery time for raising buddings and low labour intensity as compared with the other budding methods. For mini-seedling budding the stock plants are smaller in size and no stock growing time is needed since they are budded at mini-seedling stage, and budding can be done indoor instead of in field.
