บทคัดย่อ (EN): This dissertation presents the impacts of embedded generation on distribution system. A case study in the Fang radial distribution network, a small system located in Thailand's Chiang Mai province, is investigated. The system with approximately 3-17 MW residential loads is supplied from two distribution grid sources with extensive feeder length and six power plants: four small hydro power plants, one small geothermal power plant and one heavy oil power plant. The total available system capacity is about 17 MW. The involved technical data analysis obtained from PEA and the power plants show that there are some important technical problems: outages, significant losses and voltage over limit occurred. The Micro-Grid with control center is proposed to solve these technical problems. The Micro-Grid is operated as Autonomous and Non-Autonomous modes. The local generation is controlled to meet the system demand. Alternatively, the power is imported from grid source during peak load or low water season. Moreover, the system switches are controlled to separate automatically the system from grid sources. The results obtained indicate that the system reliability is improved by separating the line faults from the system. The power losses and energy losses are decreased dramatically from 4.5-21.34% to 0.54-7.17% and 8.33% to 2.20% respectively. Furthermore, the voltage profile is within the voltage limit: 0.95-1.05 pu. The overcurrent relay cannot detect the single-line to ground fault. Therefore, the grounding reactance and voltage relay is employed. Besides, the protection coordination is modified for the Micro-Grid by adjusting the pick-up current and time dial setting of the main power plant relay. In conclusion, the impacts of multiple embedded generations on distribution network are solved by a Micro-Grid.
