บทคัดย่อ (EN): The objectives of this paper are to identify the constraints confronting smallholder farmers in the supply chain, and to investigate the relationship between the constraints and the farm and farmer characteristics. The study utilised survey data collected from smallholder navel orange farmers in Gannan, which is the largest navel orange region in China. The smallholder farmers’ constraints were assessed using factor analysis and multiple regressions. The result provides a thematic summary of the farmers’ perceptions on the constraints. Results of the study reveal that the major constraints confronting smallholder navel orange farmers are marketing, transportation and product competitiveness. The results also reveal that most of the farm and farmers’ characteristics such as number of trees, total yield, and education level were inversely related to the constraints confronting the farmers in the supply chain. Based on the relationship between the constraints and farmers’ socioeconomic characteristics, some suggestions including cultivation technology training reinforcement, organization construction, information platform integration, and agricultural insurance is provide to overcome the constraints confronting smallholder navel orange farmers.
