บทคัดย่อ (EN): This research aimed to develop a database system containing information about flowering plants for use in Thailand. The objectives were to analyze, design and develop a web application reference program containing information on flowering plants for use in Thailand. The application was designed and developed using a relational database. The software used included MySQL as a Database Management System, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX as the Graphic User Interface (GUI) design tool, Apache as a web server, and Professional Home Page (PHP) as an interface between web server, database and users. The result of the research is an application program that consists of two systems, on information retrieval system and a data management system, which contains information on 273 species of flowering plant. As for the information retrieval system, there are two ways to search, either the user types a keyword (Thai name) or searches via the topics provided by the system. The application server can identify the type of user before entering the system, allowing administrators to insert, edit and delete data of flowering plants. Both the information retrieval and data management system are activated on the screen of the web browser. The evaluation of the system by five botany experts resulted in a good system assessment. In the thesis there are suggestions on how to improve the database by, among others, adding, an English version, better classifications, and altering administrator authorizations.
