บทคัดย่อ (EN): The objectives of this study, conducted during September 2013-December 2014, were to develop a standard for regulation of free range native chicken farming and to advocate for its implementation as national policy. Following a review of international standards of free range poultry farming, current poultry farming practices in Thailand, and research on free range poultry farming, a standard for regulation of free range native chicken farming in Thailand was developed. Ten farms in Chiang Mai provinces were selected to implement that standard for a trial period (January-November 2014). Checklists and focus group discussions were used to evaluate implementation, acceptance, and feasibility of the standard. The majority of famers accepted the regulation and were able to implement most of the standard criteria. To advocate for making the standards a national policy, a policy brief was introduced at a meeting with policy-level Department of Livestock Development (DLD) officers. Additional public hearings with stakeholders to discuss the standard regulation have been planned.
