บทคัดย่อ (EN): Marginality of the site in terms of soil and climatic factors can be overcome by technology interventions. Dry sites, for example can be irrigated, poor soil can be fertilized, hard pans and stony soils can be dug and cracked using a planting bar and the holes are filled with good soil and planted to rubber. However, if the social environment of the site is unfavorable for investments, even the best lands with very productive soils can’t be utilized for rubber plantation because no entrepreneur would dare to invest. This paper aims to highlight the experience of a rubber farmer who, due to his passion for rubber but lacks capital, bravely dared to penetrate the former war zone area of North Cotabato, to acquire cheaper lands for rubber plantation. The site is located in a nearby community of Maguindanaos (the Muslim inhabitants) who were displaced by war. The site is under a more or less abundant rainfall throughout the year but relatively low amount of rainfall from December to May. The terrain is slightly undulating and fertility of the soil has been reduced by decades of corn production by the former owner who belongs to the Manobo tribe. Establishment cost was not very high because the land was cultivated to corn by the farmers and the rubber was planted to a distance of 2m x 10m to allow corn cultivation in the alley. Farmers assumed the task of weeding the plantation for as long as they were allowed to plant corn. Establishing a rubber plantation in the former war zone in promising. The imagined danger is natural but once you have tried to do it yourself you will realize that it is not that dangerous to invest in these huge and unutilized areas. In fact, investing in these areas will promote progress and prosperity, alleviate poverty and bring progress and promote peace in the Bangsamoro communities.
