บทคัดย่อ (EN): Since the availability of traditional areas for rubber cultivation is limited, it will lead the development of rubber plantations in non-traditional areas such as dry climate areas where the dry season month lasts for more than 4 months/year. The growth and yield performances of new IRR series clones under dry climate condition were unknown; therefore the adaptation trial of those clones in this area was required. This trial was carried out in Tretes Plantation, East Java where the average dry season mouths per year was 4.3 months. Nine clones were tested and GT 1 was used as control. Two leaf whorl stage of polybag planting materials were planted in 6.67 m x 3 m spacing (500 tree/ha). The growth observations were done twice a year. The observations data showed that at 5.5 years of age, only two clones i.e. IRR 118 and IRR 32 grew better than GT 1. Based on the girth growth rate, these clones reached mature stage at 5.2 year of age. The result of proline analysis also showed that IRR 32 and IRR 118 had the highest level of proline. In contrast, the slowest growing clone was RRIC 100 which reached mature stage at 6.2 years of age. It indicated the possibility that these clones were more tolerant to drought. However, further observations were needed to confirm this result.
