บทคัดย่อ (EN): An expedition to collect and conserve several Hevea species from Amazon jungle in Brazil was carried out in 1995. A total of 111 genotypes were selected in the first selection in year 2000 based on girth measured at 60cm from the ground. Some of the selected genotypes were then subjected to further testing in Rubber Forest Preliminary Clone Trials. Fourty-eight genotypes were planted in Trial 1 and twenty-four genotypes were planted in trial 2. Girth at 150 cm from ground was measured starting from year two of planting. The data were also used as a calculation of clear bole volume by applying the cylindrical clear bole volume formula. Another set of girth data, which are girth at bottom, girth at 60 cm and 150 cm from ground and girth at first branching, were taken in early 2009. The data were used in the calculation of bole volume by applying the truncated cone bole volume formula and the value is used as a comparison to the cylindrical clear bole volume. ANOVA results showed statistically significant difference in the girth and clear bole volume among genotypes. Two way ANOVA between genotype and environment resulted in significant interaction between genotypes and environment in trial one. . A one way ANOVA on girth increment each year resulted in the classification of genotypes into different stability. BA 18 and BA 42 proved to be stable genotypes. However when genotype morphological description was carried out, it was found out that BA 42 was not a promising genotype because of its crooked bole. Genotype stability classification can be applied in choosing suitable genotype for rubber forest plantation establishment, where stable genotypes can be planted in any conditions and non-stable ones in a well defined environment. As a result BA 18 is seen as a promising genotype due to its stability to the environment and good trunk morphology. Truncated cone bole volume formula is seen to be the most suitable formula in the calculation of clear bole volume. The genotypes that are observed to be promising timber sources are BA 18 (CBVbt = 0.370 m3), BA 94 (CBVbt = 0.283 m3), BA 37 (CBVbt = 0.260 m3), BA 39 (CBVbt = 0.250 m3) and BA 107 (CBVbt = 0.243 m3) due to their statistically significant bigger clear bole volume than RRIM 2025 in reference to year 2009 data. Therefore the expedition carried out in 1995 can be considered as successful in introducing new Hevea genetic resources and broadening the genetic base for breeding programme.
