บทคัดย่อ (EN): The seismic rubber bearing technology has been successfully used worldwide in the last 25 years. Today more than 10,000 structures (buildings and bridges) in earthquake-prone areas have adopted the technology. This paper describes the effectiveness of the technology during the recent earthquakes. In addition the latest worldwide applications of the technology will be presented and will focus on the construction of the longest South East Asia bridge which is currently being constructed in Malaysia. The use of the seismic rubber bearing technology has resulted in a considerable saving for this bridge project because the piles for the bridge need not have to be strengthened to protect them from earthquake.
