บทคัดย่อ (EN): Oidium leaf fall disease caused by Oidium heveae is one of the most prevalent disease in most of rubber planting regions in Vietnam. Application of chemical fungicide separately or in combination with artificial defoliation at the onset of wintering showed high efficiency in control of the disease on mature rubber plantations. During defoliation period, the disease intensity was extremely mild with average infection score less than 1.0; leaf blades were bigger, thicker and quickly matured; the foliage density rapidly increased and attained highly coverage to the tree canopy. Whereas the disease was moderate to severity in the untreated and the defoliant treated treatment with the average infection score up to 3.4-4.0 and the foliage density accounted for 70%-80% of the canopy area when the trees were reopened for tapping. The average yield of the treatments that were applied chemical fungicide with or without artificial defoliation were respectively 177.6 and 325.7 kg/ha/year, corresponding to 8.6% and 15.9% higher than that of the untreated. The profit from the increased yield were 268.9 and 679.3 USD/ha/year, respectively. The result indicated that application of appropriate management method could protect the mature rubber trees from the attack of the pathogens and therefore bring more profit to the rubber growers.
