บทคัดย่อ (EN): In the processing of concentrated latex, adding ammonia, Tetramethylthiuram disulphide (TMTD) and Zinc oxide (ZnO) is meant to inhibit bacteria actions arising from high pH condition. TMTD and ZnO are normally used as preservatives to control the stability of the latex before the centrifugal separation process. However, carcinogenic nitrosamine and zinc residues occur due to TMTD/ZnO in latex products which pose risks to human health and the environment. In recent years, their use has been restricted by the new European chemicals policy, Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) for safety to end users and environment. Rubber Research Institute of Thailand (RRIT) conducted a study to compare the properties of TMTD/ZnO-free concentrated latex with the standard concentrated latex and the properties of the TMTD/ZnO-free end products. According to the results, the properties of the TMTD/ZnO-free concentrated latex offered more advantages than normal standard concentrated latex according to the standards of ISO 2004:1997 (E). In addition, the properties of single-use sterile surgical rubber gloves produced from TMTD/ZnO-free concentrated latex followed the standards of TIS 538- 2005.
