บทคัดย่อ (EN): Rubber smallholders have been playing an important role in natural rubber productions in China. The recent development of smallholders, their response to price volatility and the government policies are analyzed in this paper. The attention is also paid to the challenge of labor force and the price behavior in a long run. We find that the smallholding sector predominates in natural rubber productions in China, which has improved the living standard in rubber communities in the past 15 years. There is demand rigidity of labor and it is difficult to attract more labor for rubber tapping in future. The prices may continue to remain at a low level in coming years. Land expansion for rubber plantation should be controlled and more attention should be paid to improving the social security of smallholders.
