บทคัดย่อ (EN): Protein allergy issue of Natural rubber latex products is a widely discussed subject as at present particularly by the Natural rubber latex manufacturing industry and the consumers. Unlike synthetic lattices NR lattices contain non tuber substances such as proteins, lipids, sugars and metals. Latex proteins allergy associated mainly with latex based products caused in certain individuals is believed to be due to the contact of leachable proteins of these products with their skin. As such, removal of these susceptible proteins from NR latex is quite important for the sustainability of the NR latex manufacturing industry scattered through out the world. This paper discusses the current issues on the subject and various techniques and methodologies that could counteract this problem. The effects of the use of lattices such as double centrifuged latex, gamma irradiated latex, enzymatic deproteinized latex, latex treated with water soluble polymers in latex films were studied to ascertatin their effect on the content and the reduction of leachable proteins and the results are detailed in this paper. Special reference was made to techniques that could be adopted which leads to the reduction of leachable proteins simply by changing pattern of addition of latex preservatives prior to the concentration of NR latex.
