บทคัดย่อ (EN): Objective of this study was to assess impacts of the Development of Smallholders Participatory Extension project implemented in Chiang Rai funding by the Thailand Research Fund (TRF). Collected data by organizing group meetings where beneficiaries and non-beneficiary farmers were invited. Totally 30 smallholder farmers had attended 3 participatory meetings and were interviewed. Interview questionnaire was used as a research tool to compile information from samples. Data were analyzed and presented. Results of the study indicated factors associated with the participation and not participation with the Development of Smallholders Participatory Extension project. The non-participants indicated the most important factors influenced their decision not to participate with the project were including: strict requirement of the project participation, limit inputs and infrastructure, while problems with neighbor and community had minimum affected on their decision. For the participated farmers indicted that the most important factors associated with their decision to participate with the project are including: influence of the extension officers, performance of the poultry. Benefits of the project participation are to gain knowledge, made used of household waste and local raw materials and recognized by neighbors and community. Problems of native chicken production are including: high feed cost, fluctuate price of live chicken, while problem of extension service was minimal.
