บทคัดย่อ (EN): The objective of this study was to monitor the effect of Gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor (GnRHR) gene and Insulin-like Growth Factor- 1 (IGF-1) gene from the egg production traits of dams to the body weight traits of their progenies. Blood samples were collected from 50 Suranaree University of Technology chickens (SUT), and 208 Korat chickens (KR). PCR-RFLP was used to genotype both of genes. The significant association between genes and egg production and body weight traits in SUT, and KR were detected. GnRHR gene had no obstacle in using as a gene marker for SUT, and KR. However, the IGF-I gene is not suitable for using as gene marker. The results suggest that we need to investigate the impact of the use of gene markers in breeding programs if we require a desirable effect on the traits at the same time but the effect may give a negative impact on some traits which occur in the next generation.
