บทคัดย่อ (EN): A study of low tapping frequencies (d4 and d5) with different ethephon stimulation (ET 2.5% a.i) frequencies (8 times and 16 times per year) compared to the control system (d3, 8 times per year) was conducted on clone PB 260 at plot 19, Ben Cui plantation, Tay Ninh Rubber JSC (TRC) from 2010 to 2013, Vietnam. The results showed that as the tapping frequency decreased from d3 to d4 and d5, the mean individual yield (yield per tapping per tree g/t/t) increased by 21% and 39%, respectively. Meanwhile, increasing the stimulation frequency from 8 times per year to 16 times per year caused the mean individual yield to increase 8%. Land productivity (yield per hectare per year kg/ha/year) of d4 tapping systems achieved 96-103% of the standard system while d5 tapping systems only reached 86-90%. In order for the yield to attain 103% and 90%, ethephon stimulation (ET 2.5%) was applied 16 times per year (twice a month). The same stimulation frequency applying for d3 tapping obtained the highest land productivity with the average yield of 2,800 kg/ha/year, increased 11% more than the traditional tapping system. Furthermore, the dry rubber contents (DRC) of low frequency tapping systems were 1-2% higher than those of d3 tapping systems. In regard to the latex physiology parameters, while the sucrose content tended to decrease in the fourth year of upward tapping, thiols, inorganic phosphorous and the total solid content (TSC) showed no significant change. The rate of the tapping panel dryness (TPD) was relatively high in all of the tapping systems (including the standard system), varied from 8.8% to 12.2%. There was no indication of a relationship between the stimulation frequency and the TPD incident, thus, this could be explained as a characteristic of the clone PB 260. In addition, bark consumption could be decreased with the reduction of tapping frequency. With the change of tapping frequency from d3 to d4 or d5, labour need for harvesting was reduced by 25% and 40% respectively.
