บทคัดย่อ (EN): Until now most of automotive rubber parts are still made from synthetic rubber, due to be have high heat and oil resistant. For Indonesia as a main Natural Rubber (NR) producing country, substitution of imported automotive rubber parts including engine mounting with local products should be encouraged. Natural rubber has good viscoelastic properties that enable to isolate vibration resulting from engine vechile or other dynamic objects. For engine mounting application, although possesing good strength, resilience and high fatigue life, NR has drawback in heat resistance and damping properties defending on temperature, frequency and amplitude applied. The objective of this research was to determine the formulae of high performance engine mounting based on NR as raw material. To overcome the weaknesses NR should be blended with synthetic rubbers. The compound formulaes were designed to achieve the required physical properties. Rubber compounds were prepared on a laboratory two-roll mill according to standard mixing procedure. Physical properties of rubber were tested according to appropriate methods of ISO and JIS. The result showed that NR and EPDM of 30/110 cured with mixture of sulphur and peroxide in a such composition to achieve hardness of 30-35 Shore A, fullfil the standard specification of JIS K 6386–1977: Damping Performance. While NR and BIIR of 30/70 cured with sulphur curing agent in a such composition to achieve hardness of 30-35 Shore A, meet the standard specification of JIS K 6386–1977: Heat Resistance.
