บทคัดย่อ (EN): The objective of this study was to perform a meta-analysis to determine energy requirements for maintenance and growth of zebu cattle (Bos indicus) from independent studies that used the feeding trial and indirect-calorimetry method. The MEI and ADG of Bos indicus cattle used in this analysis include 106 datasets which were separated into 6 types of cattle as following; 1) 106 datasets of global Bos indicus, 2). 49 datasets of Bos indicus outside of Thailand, 3) 57 datasets of Thai Bos indicus, 4) 20 datasets of Thai native cattle, 5) 15 datasets of Thai Brahman, and 6) 22 datasets of Thai Brahman crossbred. The ADG (g/kg BW0.75) was regressed against MEI (kJ/kg BW0.75) to obtain linear regression equation as follows; MEI = a + bADG. It found thatMEm of global Bos indicus beef cattle, Bos indicus beef cattle raised outside of Thailand, Bos indicus beef cattle raised in Thailand, Thai native cattle, Brahman beef cattle raised in Thailand, and Brahman crossbred beef cattle raised in Thailand were 518.85, 465.37, 454.37, 478.77, 549.39 and 546.08 kJ/kgBW0.75/d, respectively and MEg for 1 g/kgBW0.75/d of ADG was 31.60, 41.47, 25.92, 31.30, 21.39 and 30.55 kJ/kgBW0.75/d, respectively. Data suggest that MEm and MEg are highly variable, depending on their provenance, and their genetic makeup.
