บทคัดย่อ (EN): The influences of rice husk ash/carbon black (RHA/CB) ratios on the cure characteristics, mechanical properties and swelling behavior of a natural rubber (NR) composite were investigated. Filler loading was fixed at 50 phr in the compounds in which the RHA was gradually replaced by CB. RHA was the waste obtained from a Ribbed Smoked Sheet (RSS) smoke house’s furnaces. Six levels of CB content (0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 phr) corresponding to the RHA’s substitutive percentages from 0 to 100% were designed. It hasbeen found that higher CB loading in the hybrid system resulted in a remarkable increase in the maximum torque hardness, 100% modulus , 300% modulus, tensile strength, compression set and swelling resistance of the NR vulcanizates. However, the optimum cure time, cure rate index and elongation at break of the vulcanized rubbers tended to decrease with increasing the CB content in the hybrid system. At total hybrid filler of 50 phr, the utilization of RHA within loadings of 40-60% total filler weight resulted in perfect balance between the vulcanizates' properties improvement and filler cost reducing. The study also reveals that the reinforced ability of RHA is not as good as that of some commercial fillers, nevertheless, utilization of RHA/CB hybrid filler is an easily effective and potential solution for enhancing ultimate properties of the NR vulcanizates. The success of introduction waste RHA into NR composites as co-filler has extended the practical application of this agricultural waste. It can be used as a new, cheap, eco-friendly and easy available medium reinforced filler which can partially replace the commercial fillers in generally character rubber composites.
