บทคัดย่อ (EN): Prophylactic ground spraying of copper oxychloride in agriculture spray oil using mist blowers is a general practice to manage abnormal leaf fall (ALF) disease caused by Phytophthora spp. However, this practice has become less attractive due to paucity of labour. In view of this, various alternative ground spraying systems were attempted, A blower assembly having 12 HP capacity was designed and developed. A micronizer type atomizer was fitted at the top of the blower lance. This blower unit was attached to a mini tractor having 18 hp capacity. The power for operating the sprayer was provided by the power take off (PTO) shaft of the tractor, The spraying attachment was connected directly to the PTO shaft of the tractor using a single wheeled gear box assembly. This system was field tested and a delivery height of 26.8 meter was obtained, The new system resulted in leaf retention of 50% while the conventional mist blower gave only 30% in the most susceptible clone RRIM 600. Better leaf retention thereby increase in the crop were observed in a farmer’s field, when sprayed with this machine compared to the field where Turblow mist blower was manually operated, The improved mini tractor mounted mist blower was found very effective for plant protection operations in rubber plantations of India, due to its less labour requirement and more area covered per unit time. The weight of the Turblow mist blower currently operated by four persons is 56 kg. due to which operation of the device in terrain becomes extremely difficult for handling. As a consequence uniform disease control could not be achieved in such plantations. Attempts were made to bring down the weight of the machine by changing the engine and redesigning the impeller, boss coupling and mounting frame, The total. weight of this mist blower unit was 45 kg. The device was field tested for its performance, in terms of fungicide delivery height, The machine was vibration free and could deliver the fungicide above 21 meter height. Further evaluation of this machine is in progress prior to recommending for adoption
