บทคัดย่อ (EN): The effects of Cu on organisms can be directly or indirectly toxic has distinctive organism or species have important different sensitivities to elevated copper levels. In addition to, toxic effect of Cu on freshwater organism is related to water hardness. Since, increasing water hardness reduces the toxic effect of Cu. In this study was conducted on acute toxicity of Cu on L. rohita and M. macrocopa at two different water hardness (18±3.58 and 85±4.56 mg CaCO3 L-1). US EPA standard methods were used for acute toxicity test. As a result, various Cu concentrations response relationships to L. rohita and M. macrocopa for 96h at water hardness (18±3.58 and 85±4.56 mg CaCO3 L-1) are highly significant (P<0.001) difference in mortality rates. A 7 fold reduction in Cu toxicity on L. rohita at 96 h LC50 value increased from 0.006(0.004-0.007) to 0.0042 (0.017-0.083) mg Cu L -1. In contrast, a 28 fold reduction in Cu toxicity on M. macrocopa at 48 h LC50 value increased from 0.000493(0.000087-0.000965) to 0.013725(0.004918-0.024119) mg Cu L-1. It is interesting to note that the effects of Cu to freshwater organisms are depending on water hardness levels.
