บทคัดย่อ (EN): Latex from rubber tree is commercialized in the form of concentrated latex containing dry rubber of 55 -60 % w/w. Concentrated latex is produced from field latex by high speed centrifugation, 9000 – 15000 rpm , and by skimming process. Creamed latex is concentrated latex, prepared by using creaming agents i.e. CMC and alginate, in batch tank for 14 -21 days maturation to achieve well separation between serums and latex phase. The creaming process is very slow rate, thereby requiring lot of time, causing concentrated latex production by creaming technique is not popular at industries. On the other hand, high speed centrifugation technique needs high investment cost for equipments. Until now small-medium scale industries still have difficulty to produce concentrated latex by high speed centrifugation machine. The objective of this research were to study the combination of creaming and centrifugation process, to increase the creaming rate by using low speed centrifuge equipment. In this study a simple centrifugation machine had been designed and was expected feasible for small medium scale industries with diameter of 60 cm, height of about 90 cm, driven by electromotor 1,5 HP and had a capacity of about 5 – 6 I field latex. To produce creamed latex quickly as much as 5 I per hour, CMC as a creaming agent was added to the field latex with doses of 0 to 0.2%.Centrifugation time varied for 0 to 60 minutes at a speed of 3500 – 5000 rpm. The results showed that the optimum conditions to obtain the dry rubber content above 55% was obtained at a dosage of only 0.1% CMC with a time of centrifugation for 45 min.
