บทคัดย่อ (EN): This project aims to develop an efficient in vivo technique for rapid propagation of rubber rootstocks through the use of seedling macrocuttings; to identify high yielding rubber clones that are amenable to the propagation methods developed; assess the field performance of such clones; and finally, produce appropriate publication materials for dissemination to concerned industry stakeholders. Various soil media and their mixtures as well cultural conditions were tried to find out the most effective techniques for the macrocuttings. Different rooting hormones at different rates and combinations were used such as lab grade/analytical grade of Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA), commercial liquid NAA, NAA powder, each carrying different brands. For macrocuttings, the project was able to attain 80-90% rooting success planted in plastic trays under ambient conditions with finely sieved river sand as rooting medium and NAA as rooting hormone. Different lengths of the cuttings were tried ranging from 10 cm to 30 cm. with all lengths amenable to culture. To optimize the utilization of the cuttings and to generate the most number of propagules, 15-20 cm was considered as ideal length. With this newly developed technique, cuttings are now being multiplied to produce rootstocks for budding and produce planting materials for eventual evaluation in the field.
