บทคัดย่อ (EN): Printed. circuit boards(PCB) used in Thai industry are madefrom imported copper clad laminates. The PCB produced are usedin domestic markets and also exported. The value of exported PCD in1992 amounted to 28,580 million baht and tends to be increasing.In producing the PCB copper foil being the main component needsto have proper chemical, physical and mechanical properties.According to the ASTM B451-81 standard, the most suitable processto produce copper foil is electroforming. Thus, this research aimsat developing the process of producing copper foil to be used inmaking copper clad laminates.This research involved, the design and construction of apilot unit for continuously producing the copper foil. In the pilotunit, a stainless steel drum was used as a cathode whereas copperflat plates were used as an anode. The drum was partly immersedin an electrolyte solution. The copper foil electroforming on therotating drum, moving at suitable speed, and was subsequently peeledoff the drum surface. After that the copper foil was tested on itsproperties.The pilot unit designed and constructed could produce 36 Um-thick films satisfying the ASTM B451-81 Standard. The platingconditions are copper sulphate cont. of tCuSO4,5H2O) 225 g/l,sulphuric acid conc. of 65 g/l, bath temperature 30-33 C andcurrent density 10-30 A/dme2. The unit has high potential for furtherdevelopment into industial scale.
