บทคัดย่อ: The objective of this research is to study the suitability of water quality in consumption, water management system of the community, public participation in water management and then suggesting appropriate guidelines for water management for ตำบลขนาบนาก Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The result of tap water quality was divided into 3 aspects. For physical aspect, the average temperature was 29-37?C, mean turbidity ranged from 0.73 to 20.00 NTU and the average conductivity was 44.90 - 2000.00 ?s/cm. The salinity is in the range of 0.03-1.06 ppt, while the dissolved solids are 22.50 - 1.041.00 mg/l. In chemical terms, the average pH was 6.80 - 8.49. The mean hardness ranged from 50.10 to 356.39 mgCaCO3/l. The average chloride and iron content ranged from 250.72 to 437.49 mg/l and 0.000 to 0.016 mg/l, respectively. In term of microbiology, there was only one sampling site at บ้านบางวุน that the water quality passes the microbiological standard of Provincial Waterworks Authority. The study of public participation in water management for consumption shows that most of the people in the community are male (51%) and 71.66% of them have an average age of 61 and over. About 58.89 % have educational background at elementary level or lower and all of them are Buddhism. Thirty-four percent of people are agriculturist and 78.76% are married. For household status, 59.44% are head of family and 55.66% of families in the community have 5-6 members. The number of people living in the area over 10 years is 87.22%. Most of people, 27.78%, have monthly income ranging from 3,000 - 5,000 bath, while 21.67% have monthly expense in range of 4,001 - 6,000 bath. Comparing the level of public participation in the study of village water supply situation, water supply management, solving of water supply problems and follow-up evaluation of village water supply with sex, age, occupation, education, marital status, the time spent in the area, income and expenditure found that the level of public participation in water management was not significantly different at 0.05
